[Opinion] Climatic Patterns and AI
As a reminder, the climatic pattern list from mapping is over 15 years old. These patterns occur on a map due to the simple action of aggregate supply & demand competition. I mentioned several years ago that we would see the same patterns occurring due to LLMs/GPTs in the AI space. I have yet to see any new patterns that have occurred due to LLMs/GPTs.
Instead, almost like clockwork we have seen characteristic change (determinism to non determinism), co-evolution of practice (vibe, chops, specification driven development or whatever we're calling it as it is still emerging), higher order systems creating new value (conversational programming, co-pilots etc), Jevons paradox, capital flows, creative destruction (yet to really kick in but will over the next decade), componentisation effects, the emergence of a punctuated equilibrium, past success breeding inertia to change, poor levels of situational awareness and on and on. It's almost tedious.
